Along with naming a squad of 28 players for the annual Remembrance Rugby Match against Wales, the United Kingdom Armed Forces Women’s Rugby team have announced that Sgt Sarah Mitchelson will be the 2016 captain supported by Wales International, SAC Sian Williams, as vice captain.  The Army’s Glyn Barraclough will be head coach for the match.

UKAF WOmen's Vice Captain, Sian Williams, is presented with her shirt last season by namesake and olympic gold medalist, Amy Williams MBE. Sian is the only survivor from last year's starting back row.

Sarah Mitchelson leads a team that is dominated by the unbeaten Army team who supply 20 of the 28 players.  Sian Williams is one of 7 players selected from the Royal Air Force with Charlie Fredrickson being the lone representative from the Royal Navy.

Twelve of the players that started the corresponding match last year are once more in the squad but Mitchelson will lead out a team showing a changed back row as last season’s captain and open side flanker, Jane Leonard, is missing alongside 2015 starting Number 8, Jade Biskin-Barnes.

UKAFRU Women trailed Cardiff Blues Wales Select XV for most of the game after tries foreman Huxtable and Rafiuke Taylor had put the home side 12-0 after 15 mins. However two tries in the last 10 minutes, the first from centre Charlotte Murray and the second from replacement back row, Erica Mills earned the UKAFRU Women and improbable draw. Gemma Rowlands touchline conversion it the cross bar having been successful with her early conversion.
Last season the UKAF team fought back to force a thrilling draw. It is sure to be another excellent game of rugby at the BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park and this time the prestigious fixture is honoured by it being against a full Wales Women team.
